What does "PC Backup" stand for?
Requested and Answered by Gene Amtower [pcbgene] on 25-Feb-2009 13:32 (3756 reads)
Because of our name, some people have said that they think we provide data backup services. However, PC Backup provides a broad range of services that include troubleshooting issues, the sale of computer systems/hardware/software, networking expertise, individualized training, database administration and support, as well as custom web-based business-process solutions.

The name PC Backup was created sometime in the late 90's because we felt we were a support resource for our customers when they had PC problems of any kind. For our customers, we serve as an important backup resource when problems arise that they can't handle on their own, giving them peace of mind that we'll back them up in their time of need. We could call ourselves "PC Support" and it would mean the same thing, but that's not as catchy sounding, now is it?

Of course, if you're having problems because your computer is "down", we can help you get "back up" again - just another play on words.

While a more generic name might be more suitable in order to convey a broader focus on all IT industry areas, the name doesn't seem to be an impediment to continued growth of our customer base. Since our websites and other business details include the name PC Backup, we decided to leave it alone and continue to use the same name as when we started doing business.

We hope you see the light, too. Call us if you need somebody to cover your back at (937) 478-7624
