Should I install more than one anti-virus solution on my computer?

Installing more than one Anti-virus package on your computer can seriously interfere with system usage, causing your system to run slowly and maybe even crash periodically. This is largely because multiple anti-virus software solutions can get in each other's way as they operate in the background. Since anti-virus software will attempt to automatically scan any files accessed on your computer, multiple security packages may try to scan the same file at the same time, interfering with each other in the process.

To insure that you don't have this problem, be sure and uninstall any existing anti-virus or anti-spyware software first before attempting to install any new protection software. Also, in the past, anti-virus and anti-spyware solutions were separate applications, but many newer security software packages include both of these forms of protection, so be aware of the protection provided by each piece of security software to insure that their functionality does not overlap. You will need to educate yourself about the features provided by any security software installed on your computer to be sure they don't conflict with each other.

If you live in the Dayton, OH area, PC Backup can help you sort this out to insure you have adequate protection that doesn't cause these types of conflicts. Call us at (937) 478-7624 or submit an inquiry through the Contact Us form on this web site.
