Development : Announcing our First Android App - The Lounge!
Posted by Gene Amtower on 2012/1/31 12:46:31 (2476 reads)

PC Backup announces the release of our first Android smartphone application in both a Free and Paid version.

The Lounge (the free version) is an attractive app launching utility for recreational apps, published to the Android Market under the developer name IAmBaM. While there are certainly many other tools for storing launch shortcuts for apps, our app provides an interactive interface that is both beautiful and simple to use.

The main app screen puts you at the front door to your lounge; when you tap on the screen, a panel slides into view inviting you into one of 6 rooms in the lounge. Each room is centered on a particular type of recreational activity and features an appropriate background image for that type of activity. Once in each room, you just tap on the screen again to slide out the semi-transparent app launching panel, leaving the view of the room background unobstructed.

From this app panel, you can add a launcher entry for any app on your device through the "Add Installed App" command button, and added apps are then displayed in the sliding panel. Once your apps have been added to the room's app panel, you can launch any of them with just a tap. You can also remove any added apps as your wants and needs change through the "Remove an App" command button.

The free demo version, The Lounge, limits you to two launcher shortcuts in most rooms, while completely disabling the addition of app launcher entries in a couple rooms. The paid version, The Lounge VIP, removes all restrictions on the number of apps that can be added to all 6 rooms, and is available for only $0.99!

This initial app release is only the beginning, with variations of this concept to be released soon. In addition, we are evaluating other app concepts for development and release - we would appreciate any ideas from our readers on needed apps that are not yet available in the Android Market, so please share your ideas with us.
